Year 7, 8 & 9:
Years 7, 8 and 9 all have 3 x 60 minute lessons of Science a week. Pupils develop their scientific, numeracy and literacy skills through the range of different topics covering all aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Learners are taught to apply their scientific skills, knowledge and understanding to design strategies, solve problems and offer explanations, relating scientific ideas to the information about them, including current issues.
Year 10 & 11
WJEC Science (double award) course.
Learners will have a total of 9 x 60 minute lessons per fortnight (3 biology, 3 chemistry and 3 Physics lessons). At the end of this course, students will achieve two Science GCSE grades.
Pupils in Year 10 will study units 1,2 and 3. To be examined during June of year 10.
Pupils in Year 11 will study units 4,5,6 and 7.
Units 4,5 and 6 are examined in May of year 11.
Unit 7 (Practical Analysis) is examined in late January/ early February of year 11.
