SE (Year 7, 8 & 9) @ DHS

Pupils who require additional support with English and/or Maths will be enriched during their mainstream English/Maths lessons. The enrichment provision is small group support focusing on the needs of the individual child. The young people who attend SE for English/Maths will also study a differentiated mainstream curriculum so when they reach an age appropriate level the transition back into mainstream is seamless.

ASPIRE (Year 7, 8 & 9 Nurture Group) @ DHS

Aspire, Believe, Achieve

APRIRE at Denbigh High School is a Nurture group designed to meet the needs of our young people. These needs can be emotional, social, academic or a mixture of all. ASPIRE is a support mechanism designed to help young people learn better and cope with the demands of a busy high school environment. By offering this support early, nurture groups can raise an individual’s attainment, attendance and self-confidence.

ASPIRE is a class of between 3 and 12 students run by two members of staff (one being a full time TA) and is based within the SE department of Denbigh High School. Young people will attend ASPIRE for approximately 50% of the time and for the remainder of their timetable, they will remain an active part of their mainstream form and classes. Students will be assessed using a variety of methods and the appropriate support given. Students will learn from positive behaviours and relationships modelled by the adults within the group.

Additional Information

Additionally, we offer ‘Club’ from 8.30am, break time and lunch time. Club is designed to support the most vulnerable at Denbigh High School. The SE department also offers a Supportive lunch to students enabling them to access the main canteen area under the supportive watch of SE staff.
